Meet: Kayleigh // @theeveryrose
meet your new favourite cruelty free beauty blogger
Kayleigh was what inspired me to truly go cruelty free. I'm vegan, however I hadn't educated myself in what it means when brands test on animals. Her words forced me to take a step back and re-evaluate myself. Kayleigh's blog aims to promote awareness for all the wonderful cruelty-free skincare and makeup there is out there in the world, waiting to be discovered.
I got to talk to Kayleigh a little more about her passion, and why she does what she does.
niche / passion:
Encouraging cruelty free beauty and lifestyle, raising awareness for all things cruelty free!
best thing about blogging:
The support network between bloggers is so great, we all support each other. and the fact you can show the world your passion through your own words and photos!
worst thing about blogging?
bloggers-block: when you lose inspiration and struggle to think of content- grrrr!!
tell us about your blog, how did it start and why did it start?
I have always suffered with sensitive skin and over the years have spent a fortune on big brand names like Clinique, Clarins, Simple, etc. One day I decided to research these brands in detail to figure out why they weren't working particularly, especially when they are supposed to be allergy ‘tested’ and all that! It was then I found out what they do to animals in their product testing. I was so distraught at what I read, I immediately began overhauling my beauty products and I wanted to raise awareness for cruelty free brands and products, for myself and for others, as I simply cannot use products which have been using animals like that.
Favourite current cruelty-free skincare product?
The Salt Parlour Salt Scrubs.
what does your life look like in your spare time?
I work for myself as a web designer so my time is pretty flexible. when I’m not doing websites I continue working on my house as we’re in the middle of a big renovation project. I love music and always have something playing. I love shopping, my dog, friends, family the gym and chilling at home.
What would you say to someone who is considering cleaning out their makeup collection of non cruelty-free products?
I would say use up everything you have already and replace when finished as wouldn’t want to be wasteful - gives you some time to start researching new cruelty free things to buy!
whats on your playlist?
1. foo fighters // 2. the 1975 // 3. kasabian
who or what inspires you?
I personally am not a vegan, but I obviously use vegan cosmetics and makeup, and people who lead a fully vegan lifestyle inspire me so much as it’s such a conscious choice of living which I really admire.
an honest truth?
I absolutely live by the quote “quality, not quantity’ I feel like I can apply that to a lot of situations and it helps put life into perspective sometimes.
One thing you wish you had told your 16 year-old self?
Always, always stand up for yourself and don’t let anybody bring you down! do what you believe in and do not be afraid to be who you want to be - it's okay to be different!
