welcome to the newest member of the glow club
Nida was one of the first beauty bloggers I had ever stumbled across when I first entered the realm of blogging. Her photography is stunning and her knowledge on beauty is forever inspiring. Caked To The Nines is the place to go when you're looking for an honest perspective.
BEST THING ABOUT BLOGGING:
Getting to know so many people around the world that I most probably never would have met otherwise.
WORST THING ABOUT BLOGGING:
It's easy to compare yourself to others, and to feel like you're not good enough or talented enough.
TELL US ABOUT YOUR BLOG, HOW DID IT START AND WHY DID IT START?
My impulsive shopping addiction is what started it all. I was in college, and spending all of my extra money at Sephora. I also love to write to I put two and two together in hopes of becoming a freelance beauty writer or beauty editor after graduating.
WHAT IS YOUR CURRENT TOP THREE HOLY GRAIL BEAUTY PRODUCTS?
Complex Beauty Afterglow Complexion Mist; Sunday Riley UFO Oil; Chanel Tan de Chanel Bronzer.
WHAT DOES YOUR LIFE LOOK LIKE IN YOUR SPARE TIME?
If I have spare time, I like to read, catch up with friends and my fave tv shows, play around with photography and editing, and of course online shop (and read up on ingredients!).
ONE THING ABOUT THE BEAUTY INDUSTRY YOU WISH YOU COULD CHANGE?
The snootiness. There seems to be a lot of drama behind the scenes in the beauty industry. I wish people/brands would support one another instead of putting each other down or making shady comments.
CURRENT TOP FIVE SONGS ON YOUR PLAYLIST?
I tend to listen to podcasts (or Harry Potter Audiobooks) right now more than music, but two songs I've been loving right now are Lightspeed by Quin and Come Closer by Wizkid + Drake.
HOW DO YOU STAY MOTIVATED CREATIVELY?
I stay motivated creatively by consuming lots of content. I love reading books, listening to audiobooks/podcasts, watching movies/TV shows with great scripts, and browsing Pintrest and magazines. I also try not to force myself. If the words aren't flowing naturally, I'll stop for a few hours, try to do something else, and then come back to it. Since my main focus is beauty, I also like to simply go through my collection and swatch and play with all of my makeup and skincare to get the juices flowing again.
THE ONE THING THAT IS BOUND TO ALWAYS LIFT YOUR SPIRITS?
Going outside on a cool + cloudy sweater weather day. I love feeling the crisp, cool air on my skin, and getting to enjoy nature without all the bugs hot weather brings with it.
An honest truth?
It’s okay to put yourself first. If you’re not happy/content with yourself, how can you make anyone else happy/content in any relationship?
One thing you wish you had told your 16 year-old self?
Take chances + don’t run away because you’re scared. Failing at something doesn’t mean you are a failure. The longer you stay in your comfort zone, the harder it is to pry yourself out of it. This is something I still need to tell myself all the time!
