Current Favourite Skincare Winter Edition

Good morning lovelies,

Today I wanted to delve into the ever changing realm of skincare routines and talk about some of my favourite products for the colder months.

In Australia, it is currently the beginning of Winter, which means Autumn quickly transforms (into what we believe) is freezing cold. People bring out the layers and the gloves, hot coffees glued to their hands. For me, I mainly just wear oversized sweaters and pyjama pants on a regular basis because the cold turns me into a crazy person. I love it, though.

The first product I wanted to talk about was my current favourite cleanser: The Simple Oil Cleanser

This product is an absolute lifesaver if your goal is bright, healthy looking skin. It leaves your skin feeling incredibly moisturised and glowy. I've never been so impressed by a $4.99 cleanser in my life.

I generally take my makeup off with a makeup wipe and follow it up with this magical creation. It is an absolute dream and really truly does nourish your skin. I highly recommend it.

Next up I wanted to talk about one thing that has been a life saver for me whenever I get bad breakouts. Apple Cider Vinegar is Mother Natures' miracle for problem skin. It's made by fermenting apples. It's an anti-bacterial, anti-fungal pH balanced natural formula perfect for restoring the original protective layer of your skin that is usually destroyed by pollution, cosmetics and other environmental factors. Make sure you grab a bottle with "The Mother" in it, which sounds and looks gross but is really important as they contain raw enzymes that are extremely beneficial for more than just your skin . I love the Braggs one, as well as the Just Organic one. I put this on with a cotton pad with a little bit of water on it every night before I go to sleep, and if you can stand the smell, the results will astound you when you see your face in the morning.

You can read more about the wonders of Apple Cider Vinegar here.

Goodness Chia Seed Oil & Sukin Bio Skin Oil

Oils either break me out or fix all my skin issues, and these two oils definitely do the latter! I like mixing the Chia seed oil into my moisturiser, whereas with the Bio Skin Oil (which I've mentioned before in a previous post), I just lather onto my face alone before I go to sleep and I wake up glowing.

Mario Badescu Rose Water With Aloe facial spray

This stuff is heaven. It doesn't change the appearance of your skin, but leaves it feeling incredibly hydrated and loved. I use it as a primer, makeup setting spray and a finishing touch to my skincare routine. You can even spray it in your hair to leave it feeling fresh.

LANATE Face Cream *
This product was sent to me (don't worry, all opinions that follow are completely my own), and when I heard what it did and how it worked, I was ecstatic.

LANATE works to gently remove the surface layer of the skin, repairing the skin through aiding with faster cell renewal and exfoliation of the dead skin cells. Its creamy, light texture glides onto the face easily and leaves skin silky smooth. I've been in love with this for the winter time as I suffer from dehydrated and dry skin during this season in particular. LANATE is dermatologically created and is primarily used to help with the treatment of small bumps or dry patches of skin known as Keratosis Pilaris, however it is perfect for anyone who is looking for soft, smooth and hydrated skin. I personally suffer from small, flesh coloured bumps that pop up on my face and can last for weeks at a time. These are hormonal and caused by stress. I've tried everything and really do believe that LANATE combined with my Apple Cider Vinegar routine is dramatically improving the condition of my skin.

I actually held out on writing a review for this product because I wanted to try it for at least a month to see if it actually worked, and my gosh it does.  Read more information about this product here.

Garnier Miracle Cream

I've had this for so long and still it is one of my most prized possessions for when I have dull, tired looking skin. It's an instant face lift in my opinion, and truly one of the only products I have ever used that actually match up to its name and its claims. If I put this on, I really don't feel like I need makeup.

For something a little different, I also wanted to mention a tool that I've been loving using when washing my face. It's from Kmart, it was $2 or $3 and it's a cleansing pad.  You may have heard of these, you may have not - whichever it is, I really hope you give it a go. It's small, oval in shape and made out of silicon with little pore-sized raised bumps. It's used to exfoliate the skin whilst cleansing and it works. Heaps of different brands have come out with their own version of this (including Sephora), so you're bound to find one somewhere. Here's one from Models Prefer, available at Priceline.

There you have it! My complete list of favourites (so far) for winter skincare. Until next time,

Imogen x

  1. I need the Mario Badescu facial spray asap, everyone is using and loving this product and I know my skin will love this!! x

    1. Ah it's so good! I was late to pick up the trend too but it's so worth it!

  2. Thanks for the recommendations ! It is the beginning of summer in France so I won't use those products now but it gives me ideas for this winter ;)

    1. Aw thank you for this lovely comment and thank you for stopping by! xx

  3. This is a great list, girl! I'm totally with you on Apple Cider Vinegar - it's actually nature's miracle. That + coconut oil keeps my both my hair and skin looking amazing year-round!

    1. Ah I love coconut oil as well! Those two things combined are gold. Thank you so much for stopping by! xx

  4. It's so funny to see everyones skincare routine and seeing that you will be approaching winter soon. I love oils for the face but also use it all year long and as for the mario badescu rose mist, everybody raves about it and it makes me want to try it out so bad.

    1. Definitely give it a go! And yes I've been really loving oils lately as well. I feel like there's a preconception that all oils will break you out but the reality is that by putting oils on your face, you trick your skin into thinking it already is producing oil and it wont produce as much! Thanks for stopping by lovely!

  5. I love reading skincare routines! I love that Mario Badescu spray, and want to try the Simple Cleansing Oil. I have their micellar water and love it!

Nida | Caked To The Nines

    1. I love Simple - it's probably my favourite drugstore brand! The oil cleanser is definitely a winner and I would recommend it to anyone xx Thank you so much for stopping by Nida!

  6. Great post dear!

  7. The facial spray from Mario Badescu is incredible!
